It isn’t just a buzzword, it’s how we operate. Why? Because we love Nicaragua and want to see it’s people and environment grow in a positive direction and develop sustainably.

So what does Sustainable Development really mean? Well, it means that we work while supporting these three factors:

Also known as People, Planet and Profit.

So, what do we do to support sustainable development? NicaConexiones donates 10% of profits to organizations that work to help improve life in Nicaragua in accordance with these factors. For example, we support blueEnergy, an organization that brings renewable energy and clean water to hundreds of people living in the Caribbean coast. We also support Mujeres Solares de Totogalpa, a group of women who work to repair and sell  solar panels and homemade solar cookers.

We also print our NCX cards with 100% recyclable cardstock instead of PVC plastic, use public transportation when traveling (and we travel the country a lot!), support gender equality, and help connect travelers with ways that they can help as well. Did we mention that 10% of NCX card sales goes to non-profit projects supporting sustainable development or tourism?

Nicaragua is the second-poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and has a long way to go. Help us help secure this economic, cultural and environmental treasure for the next generation of Nicaraguans and visitors.

You can donate directly to any of the organizations we support through NicaConexiones and know that 100% of your donation will be received by them.

You can also support these organizations by supporting NicaConexiones. If you have any questions or comments, please let us know.
